Kappa Upsilon Lambda's mission is to help young black males graduate high school and inspire them to become productive citizens through a college education. Other fraternal services include educating our communities the importance of voting and practicing abstinence.  

 

As of January 2007, the Chapter’s official philanthropic charitable arm, the Kappa Upsilon Lambda (i.e. KUL) Foundation 501(c)(3), was established. Through this charitable entity the Chapter sponsors and supports a growing number of mentorship, giveback, and scholarship programs throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York. These endeavors include our development of Project Thunder (a youth mentoring program), the CHRIS Foundation, and the sponsoring young men in the Leadership Development Institutes (LDI).

 

Scholarships like the Christopher Scudder Memorial Scholarship Fund were established.  It's named after Brother Christopher J. Scudder who perished in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.  We also award The Richard F. Peterson Scholarship to honor his dedication and memory as one of our Chapter founders (Pearl) and The Nelson Keyes Scholarship to commemorate his life and brotherly love to the Kappa Upsilon Lambda Chapter.
